My career in BISD began in Freeport as a kindergarten student. I attended my entire schooling K-12 in Freeport schools and graduated as the Valedictorian of the Brazosport High School Class of 2000. I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003, and began teaching at Freeport Intermediate in 2005. In 2012, I earned my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University.
My husband and I were raised in this area and look forward to raising our three children here as well. When we are not at school or work, our favorite activities include watching movies, hanging out at the beach, fishing, and hunting.
I have been honored to be the counselor at Velasco Elementary since 2012. My vision is to help provide a positive, learner-centered environment that ensures academic success and personal achievement for each and every student.
Hello Velasco Seagulls!
As one of the school counselors at our campus, my job is to ensure that your child is growing socially, emotionally, and academically. We also want to assist our students in developing outstanding character traits as well. I want to provide a safe environment for your child to express themselves in order to make the most of their years at Velasco and beyond.
I began my own education right across town at Jane Long Elementary and I am a proud graduate of Brazosport High School. Go Big Red! I obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Abilene Christian University in 2005 and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Angelo State University in 2016. I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association and the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. I taught second grade at Velasco Elementary for two years, and I feel so blessed to be a counselor at the same campus.
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Bryan, since 2006 and we have two daughters. I brought my daughter Jolee with me to Velasco in 2015 as a first grader, and my younger daughter will eventually be a Seagull as well. We believe in this school and this community! In our free time we enjoy camping and hiking at state parks across Texas. Our goal is to visit all 54 parks.
If you ever have questions or would like to meet with me, please feel free to contact me. I want to work with you to ensure your child has a rewarding and successful experience at Velasco Elementary!
