After serving as Assistant Principal during 2015-16, I am excited to be the new Principal at Velasco Elementary! My passion is learning and assisting students and teachers to excel. Our students have unlimited potential and my goal is to help each student reach the highest level by empowering our teachers. Lifelong learning has allowed me to explore many career paths. However, education of others has been a constant theme. After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Mathematics and a MBA in Finance, I worked as an university instructor, accountant, financial planner, budgeting director, small business consultant, college administrator, and business owner. In 2000, I completed my teacher certification from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. My teaching experience includes 8th grade Math, Algebra, Geometry, university level business and computer programming as well as workplace training. I have also served as BISD's District Math Coordinator and Assistant Principal at Freeport Intermediate School and Elisabet Ney Elementary. In 2013, I received my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston. My personal pursuits include cooking, music, family time, digital learning and innovation. My daughter graduated from Brazosport ISD and my family has lived in the area for over 25 years. I look forward to serving the Velasco family! Going for gold in 2016-17!
